All about CELPIP - The Canadian English
Language Proficiency Index Program

The CELPIP Test is Canada’s general English language proficiency test for immigration and professional designation. 

 

There are two types of CELPIP test:

 

  1. CELPIP- General test is the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Offices approved test for Permanent Residency (PR) Applicants. The total test time is about 3 hours and is done in one sitting. The CELPIP - General Test has four components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
     

  2. CELPIP- General LS test is IRCC approved test for Citizenship status. The total test time is about 1h10m and is done in one sitting. The CELPIP - General LS Test has two components: Listening and Speaking.

Who accepts CELPIP?

The CELPIP Tests are accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for

  • Permanent Resident Status

  • Canadian Citizenship

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • Start-up Visa Program

  • Numerous Provincial Nominee Programs

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
